Mindfulness Slow Stitching - a little time for you...

09th February 2020
Happy New Year to you all - and what an exciting year I have ahead of me! That said, I am well aware of the need to stop and sit so with that in mind...

Sewing with slow mindfulness allows us to become quiet, retreat into memories and just be in the moment. There are no rules, no expectations, no time limits or clocks to watch, no right way other than the gentle enjoyment of the task and the thoughts that come with that.
The last few years for me have been quite a challenge personally and I have been so grateful for threads and fabrics, good friends and shared cuppas. Something I found so important when things were extra tough were the moments when I could just sit with a little stitching - hand stitching - and sink into the details, focus on the now, let the chatter in my head be quiet.
It is well known that stitching by hand with friends and neighbours played a very important part in the lives of women in previous centuries, waiting for their men to come home from war, waiting to be released from prisoner camps, keeping children warm with hand made quilts... sitting quietly in a moment of peace is essential for our mental well being.

Inspired by this, and my love of hand stitching, I have designed some Slow Stitch kits for you to enjoy - they are full of lovely textures and exciting extras, hand cut templates, carefully chosen notions and some inspiration to get you started.

The first was an obvious choice, inspired by my passion for all things Coastal and fuelled by my many hundreds of photographs taken whenever I am near the coast.
"Driftwood Dreams" kits are all about the sea, the sights, scents and sounds and the memories.

Then along came a brand new year - a brand new decade, so "Kalendar Kits' have joined the list - January is already in some shops and in my online shop here, February is already packed and ready to be sent out! Take a look in my shop for an exclusive special offer!!

I set a challenge before Christmas last year to a few of my students and asked them to make the coastal kits, not to share with anyone and to bring them into class after the New Year - I was astounded by the variety and the imagination - take a look at the image below!!

I challenge you all!
