"The Patterned Path to Freedom" Illustrated Talk

'The Patterned Path to Freedom" is based around the story of the Underground Railroad; the incredible bravery, secrecy and indomitable endeavours of escaping enslaved people of the Southern states of America, and how quilt blocks helped them to flee to safety through the Southern and Northern states and into Canada.

Wartime Signature & Prison Quilts - Illustrated Talk

The signature quilts from World War 1 and 2 are beautiful historical pieces of artistry and skill, but they also funded the War effort and told a story of their time.

The prison quilts from World War 2 tell a story of bravery, stoic endurance and ingenuity when times were at their most desperate. They are beautiful, personal, touching pieces of artwork and inspiring to all who see them.

The final part of the story refers to the amazing prisoner and refugee quilts.

Women on the Cut - Illustrated Talk

This is all about the history of women on the traditional working narrowboats on our canal systems; the Idle Women from WWII, the working families and their way of life. and the traditional crochet, quilting, rugs and patchwork skills.

This is also about living on the canals now and the ways in with 'working boats' now exist, both historically and in modern terms.

"Living With Luna" Illustrated Talk

The story of adopting and rehabilitating an abandoned rescue dog with severe trauma. Wearing my other hat as a canine behaviourist, I was asked to work with a dog who was so severe I adopted her instead. She was a special soul and the journey we had, of communication and trust, was one that inspired me to work with other rescue dogs with trauma.

Kawandi Workshops

Kawandi is a lovely form of Quilting as you Go and such a relaxing method of creating something beautiful from small fabric pieces.

We will be making a coffee table topper that could be used as a placemat too.

No sewing experience is needed for this one. You learn as you go and all the materials and equipment will be provided so all you need to do is arrive, smile and enjoy your day.
